However, after much feedback from fans, it was decided that Shipwrecked would become a DLC instead. On September 3rd, 2015, it was revealed to be stand-alone in an official Rhymes with Play stream. It was originally speculated to be a large expansion for the single player game, similar to the Reign of GiantsDLC. It was released December 1st, 2015 as a beta for Windows, and December 17th, 2015 as a beta for OSX. Officially revealed on July 30th, 2015, and officially released on March 31, 2016, Shipwrecked is co-developed by the indie studio Capy Games. It includes features such as new playable characters, biomes, creatures, mechanics and seasonal effects. Don't Starve: Shipwrecked is a DLC that transports the characters and gameplay of Don't Starve into a tropical setting.
